Default V&H Turndowns Too Loud

I knew these where loud but didn't know just how loud until the other day. Coming out of the doctor's office the other day an older couple were getting out of their car and the woman says nice bike my son has one and told me to be careful and I thank her, as she was walking around my bike I made the mistake of starting it up. I really thought she was going to have a heart attack so I shut it off and asked if she was ok, she was. Question is, is there a way to quite these things as there are no baffels available, if not I may have to experiment with the old stock ones.

If the tips turn down, there is no way to insert any baffles. What I've done in the long-ago on some old goose-neck drags was to cut the pipe in half, insert a baffle, weld it back together, then cover the weld with a heat shield. Probably not what you wanted to hear, eh? Maybe look into trading them to someone for their stock pipes. Then you'll have a set to play with, and the originals will still be OK.

Post a pic and maybe I'll trade you for my SE slipons. Not to loud, not to quite, juuuuuust right. I would have felt bad to for scaring her.

OOOOPS! I noticed you have a bagger. I guess a trade is out.

the turn down portion is a tip that is removable, not sure if they have quieter baffles though. I have them on my RKC and all though they are louder than stock I would hardly say they are heart attack loud unless you are really cracking the throttle.

How much louder is 'Heart Attack' loud' from, lets say, 'Car Alarm Set-Off' loud?

I run the same slip-ons they are ok w/stock head pipe and very loud with true duals I was alos thinking of finding a way to tame them some but if you are running true duals a stock head pipe will help a lot and if you are running a stock head pipe dont buy duals! I found out the hard way, but I won't sacrifice the look of the duals for the noise because the cross over hides my diamond cut.

I think Samson makes a baffle for turn down pipes.

Every once in a while, I could set off an alarm with my stock pipes. Now, aggrevatingly, I set off the same van's alarm every morning when I go to work. I only have SEII!
