Default Turn signals not blinking

Got a problem with my '95 WG. Running lights are on and work fine. Push the turn signal button (either one) and the corresponding turn signal with light up, but not flash. Self-canceling mech is working find (light will dim back to normal after a few seconds while traveling), but the lights don't flash.

I originally thought the flasher mech went bad, but do both turn signals share the same mech? If not, what do both signals share that would cause this? Every now and then they will blink, but this is few and far between. Thanks!

Ever since I changed to a gel battery, the turn signals won't kick if the bike's rpm is at idle (about 900-1000). Anything above 1000 rpm and they work fine. Charging system checks out ok. I guess the gel battery carries less resting voltage than the old one.

Check your bulbs. Check your flasher unit.

Gel batteries need to be charged at a slower rate & lower voltage than your normal "sealed" battery. They can get voids in them causing them to fail.

Do they work when your bike isn't running? Rhetorical I guess. They should flash regardless of the rpm's albeit dim is the right voltage isn't getting to them.

Engine RPM's make no difference, same symptoms whether bike is running or not.

Also, just noticed my rears weren't lighting up normally, but I thought I read somewhere where the rears don't act as running lights, only the fronts. True?

On my old softail, only the front are on as running lights.
My Rocker, the rear are both signals and brake lights.

Seems like you have a intermittent short. Like one of the connections is loose.

do as BB stated
Check your flasher unit

If the bulbs are fine, suspect the voltage regulator. I was having issues on my FB a few months ago, and one of the symptoms was intermittent turn signals. Work sometimes, sometimes not. A new voltage regulator solved all the problems.
