Well, it happened. My first wreck, and it was a bad one.

1. Congratulations on getting a drunk driver off the road. One less to worry about.
2. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Hope you are back in the saddle again soon.
3. Last note, very wise words on the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) combined with a real life survival story speak volumes. You can stress the importance of PPE in MSF courses and during safety briefs before rides. Still, many of us, even myself at times, make the choice to ride with less. It is a risk we should never take lightly and your story reinforces that.
Again, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

1.) Glad to hear you're still with us!
2.) Get off the pain pills as soon as you can. [ addiction issues ]
3.) Look into raising your insurance coverage to $300K, the cost is marginal for the increase, and you have better protection. I learned this the hard way...
Good luck & see you out on the road soon!

Too Much...
There's way too much of this going on. I got knocked off the bike Labor Day weekend by a guy that couldn't be bothered to check for traffic before pulling out of a parking lot. I had 3 seconds to react to a situation that required 4 seconds to stop - BANG. Up & over the handlbars I go - broken hand/wrist/arm. Bike needs a new frame & lots of other parts.
Dealer tells me the painted parts will take "a while". Is 18 weeks common?
EDIT: To each their own, but yes, I was wearing a DOT half helmet in a "no helmet" state.

I've posted this in here before , HD paint is done on a robotic line . They don't just pop stuff on and off it . Repair or " service parts " are done on a 3 or 4 month cycle depending on production load and demand , hence the 12 wk min. wait for stuff . Just an FYI guys , it isn't the dealer jerking you around .

Edited: I decided to get a primed and do it myself

Gear
Thanks all. Now I'm affraid to ask how long the new frame with the old VIN from Harley will take!
And yeah, spectators were surprised I was wearing a helmet. They were also surprised to see me laid out in the road a few seconds, then roll over & sit up, and eventually stand & hobble off to the side of the road. I'm pretty sure there was a connection.
