1. Get a good personal injury attorney
2. Talk to no one. His insurance company will try to contact you. All communication goes through the attorney
3. Sign nothing
4. Get well soon
5. Don't be afraid to wait them out for a full settlement.
6. If his family or friends or even him stops at your home do not talk to them.

I settled for very little and had long term injury that wasn't covered. do not make the same mistake I did.
Hope you have a speedy recovery....

I had an accident back in Feb 08. I had the same limits you currently do and the guy who hit me has state minimum. Hind site is always 20/20 but everyone should carry the maximum amount of insurance you can afford in case something like this happens. I found out that increasing my limits to 300K a person 500K an accident only cost me $22.00 more a year. I'm glad to hear that your injuries aren't too bad and that your going to get back on and ride again. Good luck to you and I wish you a quick recovery.

Wish ya a speedy recovery! I second the idea of making sure ya dont settle for less than you deserve/need. Especially with a hip injury, that's gonna be the roughest and probably the longest to heal from. Stories like yours are yet another reason why I'm switching from a half helmet to a fullface.

Thanks for sharing! It reminds us all to keep our safety in the forefront!
