I use a wind breaker type of pullover as a lightweight extra layer. Since it's a wind breaker it works very good.

At the temps you're going to be riding in the only thing that will work is heated gear - I do 42 miles each way to work all year long on the bike. In the winter temps get down to the 20-30's in the morning and no plain jacket or gloves, regardless of what I wear under them, works to keep me warm. Gerbings makes the HD heated gear but I'd go with the Gerbings brand if you can as they sell by chest size (in inches) with different length sleeves - HD gear is only sm, med, large, etc., with a preset arm length If you can't get a refund at your shop ask if you can exchange for the heated gear, even HD if I had to.
Get a heated jacket liner and heated gloves. The only problem you'll experience is keeping your legs warm. My wife make me insulated chaps which work but I'm still thinking of getting heated Gerbing pants.
Good luck with the dealer.

Leather is for wind breaking and protection,,, whats under it will keep U warm...
U need to figure that out not some little girl behind the counter..
If U bought it big enough to wear couple good layers under it U should be OK, unless U'r talking bout under 40*'s.....

I rode this past Saturday morning in 37 degree weather.
Outer jacket was the Harley FXRG Leather jacket, (I did not use the Harley liner) Under it I had the Tourmaster Synergy heated liner. Under that the UnderArmor mock turtleneck ColdGear undershirt.
The FXRG was so good, I never had to plug in the liner all weekend. The temps were in the mid-40's and rain was off and on.
I cannot say enough about the FXRG leather jacket. I have the older version and the newer has even better insulation.
Possibly the dealer will trade for the FXRG?
Oh, the FXRG leather is great in the event of an accident, believe me, I know,

I don't know what to tell you. I wear a $100 no name leather jacket with a fleece pull over sweatshirt underneath it. This year I bought some thinsulated leather gloves $20, they are warmer than the jersey glove liners and thin leather gloves I used to wear. Also some cheap chaps and I'm good down to 35 degrees or so.
When it gets below 30 I wear my carhartts.
