Default HID Headlight is very dim....any advice?

Hey everyone,

I have a HID headlight on my '09 Ultra that I had installed while in Sturgis. It has worked perfect since I had it installed but tonight it will only burn about 20-30% of regular brightness. I was wondering if anyone knows of any suggestions for troubleshooting it?

Age, battery, wiring, a possible current bleed, weak charging? Did this occur gradually, or suddenly? My H4 got pretty dim, then it died on a road trip out in the country on a Sunday night. Fortunately, the high beam still worked to get me home. The new light is MUCH brighter than the old one. Good luck. I would start with the element, and go from there. Does it run any differently than before?

+1 I use to work for Hella,Inc and a bad ground was them most common problem we would incounter with the HID lamps when wiring up race cars. From there I would have to point at the ballast unit.

I would check the element, ground, and ballast.

Lee, I am sorry to inform you that you may check the kit for its quality. Like women, all HID's are not the same. As always, you are a valued friend and you have my # so I will always help you out. I personally do not know what the problem is. It is not voltage/ground because HID is either on or off with operating voltage/amperage. Ballasts do not dim your bulb IMO. Wiring is doubtful. If you like, ship it down to me and I will take a look at it (Lee is a friend) at no charge of course (goes without saying). You got my #.
