Sorry about the early rebuild but with your attitude you will enjoy the challenge and make it better than ever. Thanks for the pix and I hope you keep us updated.

Good luck.

Im not sure, but I think its the front rod or bearing . I pulled the engine and am "farming out" the rebuild. It started knocking and sounded like it was in the top end. I replaced everything in the top and it didnt help, then it started knocking loudly on the bottom. I took it to the guy thats going to do the rebuild and he drove it and said the bottoms gone. I pulled the oil filter and it was full of bronze shavings. Hes goin to "hop it up" a bit. Its a 99 1340 evo.

I am not up on EVO's but it does sound like you lost the rod bearing......guess you will know soon. Have you had it since new? Not that it matters but wondered since you say it was well maintained was there a first owner who maybe did or did not maintain and/or ran it hard?

Regardless..........you have the right attitude. Enjoy the extra umphh when you get all back together!

I bought it in 01 with 3k miles on it, bone stock. That guy didnt ride it much and used it as a garage ornament. I've ran it pretty hard. I dont "dawg it out" but do alot of hwy, and mountain 2 up riding. I guess its just one of those things. Like my daddy always told me, "anything man made can fail." Ive always ran amsoil in it and changed the engine oil every 5k.

Yeah. Im really missing my bike and looking forward to gettin her back togather. I ride her everywhere, year round, and it is my primary means of transportation when Im home. I have a company truck for work. I plan on getting the engine to the shop next weekend if my work cooperates.
