I guess this global market has been in business for a while. I have the outer fairing off my '96 cop bike and both the speedo and tach say made in Japan. I did a google search a while back to find out what % of a Harley the were foreign made. I was surprised to learn that only cars and computers I believe have to report that information, not motorcycle mfgrs.,,

 

Thunder Press reported in a tech article a few months back that 94% of the Harley is Made in the USA. I thought it was kind of interesting that a Toyota Tundra is more USA made than a Ford F-150, Dodge Ram or Chevy Silverado. To the OP if you meant American Made then you're talking about a whole lot of different countries.

 

Only the shadow knows. If they stamp "American Made" then they are required to have a specified % of content made in America. I don't know that percentage. I will guess at 70 to 80 %.

 

Thet don't say "MADE IN USA." They say something like "Built In USA With Union Workers" or something like that.

 

100% of my Harley Davidson is Foreign made. Wait a minute, I think my gremlin Bell is 100% CANADIAN, made by a local artist. 99.99% 0f my HD is foreign made.

 

I have always heard if its a Harley with Japan forks and German electrical parts or a Chevy with a China motor built in Canada that does not count against it. But if its a Toyota with a Japan transmission built it the USA that bad. Go figure. What are you trying to do. You hurt my feelings?

 

Would the end result not be where the money goes after the sale.
For a Ford there is the sale and the big money stays here in the U.S.
On a Toyota don't you have the sale and the big money goes to Japan where the owners are ?

 

I can tell you all the wiring harness are hand made in the US, ReadingPa to be exact. One of my customers.
