Like those two posters said. The early FI is not the same as the later and most people don't want the issues.

I thought the big issue with the MM EFI was no "potato-potato" sound? I haven't heard of a lot of issues from my friends with injected bikes up to '01. I'd love a EVO Road King, carb or EFI. But it would have to be cheap, because I am.

I like potatoes myself, hence the carbs...

I guess I should consider myself lucky, many years and over 20k miles and not one issue.

The M & M is not a bad system.
It is a simple system that is less advanced than the Delphi fuel injection.
The system in most cases is most reliable when modifications are left to just slip-on mufflers and an air cleaner...The system may have some difficulties if major engine builds or requested.
The M & M system has not been used in a harley for almost 10 years so some techs. have had limited exposure.
I have had no problems with a 1998 efi road king..
A carb. would be simpler than an M & M bike or a Delphi..

the carb is owner friendly if you know your way around basic motor operations plus it is ALOT cheaper if you have to throw a new one on. Buddy of mine has a Injected Night Train and just dropped $4K in the motor and a few other upgrades and still hangs his head and frowns when I fire my EVO up next to him..JUST SOUNDS SOO MUCH BETTER!!! LOL

Let's just say my dad owned that exact year road king and thought he would go with fuel injection since it was supposedly superior to a carbed engine. In stock form, it was not a problem. The minute he did engine upgrades, it became a total nightmare and he has forever sworn off fuel injection. Unfortunatley, that was the "guinea pig" year for FI and most people are weary of buying it. Thankfully Harley got it right in subsequent years and I personally think it is the only way to go for the 90% of us who can't rebuild carbs. Good luck in selling your sled

you'd be surprised how easy it is to rebuild a carb.

I am carbed and so are my bikes. Maybe if I ever have to go on Oxygen I'll get a FI bike as well.

when i bought my 06 dyna new that was one of the things i loved "efi". but when i was riding it home it just felt like it was missing some soul. hardley no potatos!! i just couldent get used to the twichy ride nd no potatoes, so i sold it and bought a minty 90 evo carbed softail!!! im quite happy!!

i spent alot of time tuning efi with tts mastertune and it ran well, but it just isnt the same as a carbed evo.
