Default Grrrr! I thought it was 1200!

And I just figured out that mine is likely not. I bought it thinking it was, I was told it had been bored out. But it does not rip like I think it should. If it blows by the big bikes. it's a 1200. If the reverse is true, it's an 883. Mine does not blow by my big bike friends.... actually they leave me way behind. I have the rest of it dialed in running-wise, and a hypercharger and Screamin' Eagle pipes. I tried to check the bore with a piece of solder, no luck. I will have to wait till winter and pull the heads. I suspect a fellow near Winchester Va. might have bamboozled my sister by saying he'd bored it out. She bought it 8 years ago from a dealer, so there may be a record. I do have the seller/co-buyer's full name and address as of eight years ago. I guess I will find out the deal when winter comes. I like riding it too much to pull it down now. I just wish it had more power..... If I find a 3" bore, I am gonna be one pi$$ed off %#&@(*&.

It was originally a red XLH Custom, now it's a pink one.

Basically I just needed to vent a bit, if anyone has a bit of advice for me, please post it up. I still got a good deal on the bike, even if it's an 883. I just hate the idea of someone pulling a fast one, and using a dealership to legitimize the fraud. Grrr.

How about you call the HD customer service number and give them the vin number. They will tell you what the bike was at manufacture date. Then work from there. Then put a 1200 kit on it with a mikuni carb.

The cylinder stamps and title say XLH 883. I now it was originally the smaller one. It will get upgraded for sure. But I'm afraid I will not be able to resist buying a new Road King very very soon. I should never venture inside the dealership......

The upgrade will include cams, ignition module, 1200 (if not already bored), and a Mikuni or S&S carb. It will be a screamer. Just a quesiton of when.

In the three weeks I've had it, I've put 1200 miles on it. I can't seem to wipe this bug-eating grin off my face.

LOL Actually I just want to keep up with my buddies. They tell me the Sporty is HD's race bike, and then I am half a mile behind them.

In all seriousness could it just be they are better riders?
Skip the 1200 kit I'd go with a 1330 kit and keep all 883 decals on.

Hind-sight is always 20/20 but when someone is concerned with the accuracy of information someone gives them, it's a good idea to challenge it. The days of taking folks word for something is almost gone. There are just to many liars and people that will take advantage of you in heartbeat.

It's a good idea to keep records of upgrades and modifications.
