Be careful where you park your Harley at Walmart
On my return trip (on my 10 Limited) from St Michaels MD back to ATL I encountered some rain around Greensboro NC so decided to stop at the local Walmart and buy a cheap rain suit. Park the bike buy the suit and ready to take off and the alarms keeps going off and bike won't start. O.K. my fob battery is dead so go back in and spend 7 bucks for 2 pack. Put new batt in and same thing. I just want to get home so open the book for instructions to disable and read "interference can affect the fob. Move the bike 15 feet from source". Look up at the light pole I parked next to instead of a parking space and see all kinds of wireless security stuff. Move the bike 10' away from pole and all is well. The moral of the story: 1. Don't park near poles at Walmart if you have the HD security fobs. 2. When in doubt "RTFM".
Whats interesting is I had just had a conversation with a buddy about all the gadgets one of our friends Wing had. I had just remarked how sometimes simpler is better.

Wow! I never heard of anything like that in a Walmart parking lot.
I used to do a lot of service work on the computer equipment in Walmarts, so I can testify to the fact that the stores are an RF nest inside the buildings, as nearly everything that isn't bolted down has a wireless interface to the store's network. It wouldn't surprise me at all, however if they have gone to using wi-fi devices in the parking lots as well, possibly for surveillance cameras and to allow using portable cash registers outside.
I don't have the factory security system on my bike, but will pass the info on to my riding buddies that do.
