I'm surprised the usual suspects on here have not posted that his helmet saved his life.
2:20am high speed accident brings to mind drinking and driving.
I wish him well.

What you have to remember is that the mini van was traveling in the same direction as the biker, and was reportedly traveling at 65 MPH. If the bike was doing 95 MPH then the impact would have occurred at 35 MPH. The damage to the van suggests an impact in the 70+ MPH range, so I would guess the bike was probably traveling at 140 MPH plus. That's crazy!
I am an insurance investigator. I handled another loss last year with a crotch rocket traveling at approximately 100 MPH in a downtown area approaching an intersection. He was riding a black bike, at about 12:30 AM, all dressed in black, doing a wheelie when he hit our Insured. The Insured could never see him, his headlight was pointing toward the sky. Stupid or what?

Guess he ran faster than his angel could keep up and/or his bell clapper could dislodge gremlins.
Sad. But the plus side is the van folks weren't physically harmed.

Other people. 2000 right at dusk, Triumph stalls, I pull over & am priming the carb when an idiot in a dually takes out my left leg.
2007, 12:15 AM, riding home. Moron crowding my tailpipe & blinding me with his brights...Thought I had time to make my turn & get away from him...Sherriff's Deputy oncoming...55 in a 25. Career gone, arm gone, bike gone.
When my new bike's ready, I won't ride after dark anymore...Hell...They don't see you in broad daylight!
Hope the kid makes it.

"...drunken hyabusa riders..."
Ha!
Um, one small point... a Hayabusa is not a crotch rocket. It is a 1300cc heavy bike that makes a terrific sports tourer. They are like big puppie dogs, unless you get frisky with your right wrist. Then they're like a crack ***** out of cigarettes...
My two riding buddies...
