If wasn't for the size of the rear end, I'd say no 5 was the true bobber. But, I'm with you on the bob thing. Way over done. For another, I don't see bobber in the Harley street bob.

RE: Bobbers?
Here's my take on it... if non H-D's count! I created this bike last winter and it actually won a show this summer. I say created because all I really did was cut a bunch of stuff off and paint it. No real "building" per say... which to me is what a "Bobber" is.... bobbing stuff off.
I documented the transformation. If anyone is interested follow the link below.

RE: Bobbers?
All 3 of the bikes are bobbers, as in bobbing = chunk the junk.
I reckon the original term came from "bobbing" (shortening) the fender(s), and grew to encompass getting rid of the unnecessary junk that added weight.
A bobber is the antithesis of a garbarge barge!
Or as one ol' boy says about my Sloptail, "Son, that's the devil's bike - it looks like hell!

I like #2 as well... But I think that is more a function of the color of the bike.. I am not a fan of the paint job on #1.
To me a bobber should be all one color. But I am weird that way.
One of my favorite OCC bikes was the Senior Series Bobber... I thought that was a great looking bike.

#1 would be considered more of a true bobber if the front fender was pulled off. Gotta love those Panheads. Not sure about #2 with that big front wheel/tire. They're both beautiful bikes and are definitely more bobber than a lot of what the custom builders are doing. Don't think the FXR in #3 quite qualifies, to the purists anyway.
