Default Hit from behind

Sitting at red light Monday morning 7 a.m. about 1/4 mile from my office.

All of a sudden I get hit from behind - not super hard hit but startled the heII out of me. While I am collecting my thoughts mentally assessing situation - am I injured, what is damage to my bike, etc.. I quickly pull over.

The guy that hit me was driving a pick up and decided to leave scene of accident - however, rush hour traffic no where for him to go.

He proceeds to broadside another vehicle and then slams into the back of a third.

I don't have police report yet - guy was taken away in ambulance - but it appeared clear to me this guy was wasted or high on something - there was throw up on inside/outside of his truck - actually fell asleep on his front seat while we waited for emergency vehicles to get there.

In the end minor damage to my bike and I am doing ok - sore neck and headache type of stuff. I am lucky he didn't hit me like he hit the other 2 vehicles.

One interesting item of note - as LEO was writing accident report he asked me if I was wearing my helmet when accident happened - I said no and then had to explain the helmet law in Texas to him - he was clueless regarding Texas helmet law and unaware of September 2009 updates.

Glad you are ok and not injured badly. Do you have uninsured motorist coverage?

Unbelievable. Cop doesn't know the helmet law in the state he's employed? You're extremely lucky that clown p/u driver didn't kill you. Keep your eyes trained on your mirrors, you got lucky Monday. Your only real chance of survival is to see them coming before they hit you so you can get the heck outta there. Screeching tires or the picture getting big too fast in the mirrors, I'm gone.

I don't imagine this idiot has any friends. The pick up driver, that is. Or should I say, "puke-up" driver?
