I was being polite...he can ride side saddle for all I care, long as he stays on his own side of the street, and stops expressing interest in what's fashionable for me to wear.

B.S.??? I saw what I saw (or didn't see) Helmets that is
I live in a non helmet state and have ridden in many others. I have never come across a group of riders or an accumulation of seeing other riders during the ride that didn't have at least 25% or more with helmets.
I go through Indiana almost every year. Always see helmets. Helmets are not required in Sturgis S.D. I see more and more there with them every year.
In Iowa which is a non helmet state at the J&P open house I saw almost half with helmets.
I just do not think the OP could ride through any no helmet state and not see a surprising amount of helmets. So I call B.S.
