One lousy wash can cost ya hours to get the marks out.

A Harley is as much as a show piece as a bike and some appreciate that fact.

I've had 10 yr old toys virtually indistinguishable from new.

Well I was unlucky with my 1,000mile service on the 09 UC. I didn't think to say "don't wash"-- they did and both mirrors glass was scratched.

Oh well, live and learn. From then on "NO WASH" on the service ticket. So far so good....

Sadly, it's not.
I shudder to think what would've happened if it started to rain on the way home...Mother Nature would be feeling the wrath for getting him wet!

Of all things, they should ensure the wash/detail is of equal quality or better than the wrenching
Of course. Because it's much more important that your bike looks pretty than actually runs properly.

To wash or not to wash………..that is the inconsequential question…
It’s clearly a quite time in HDF land…

I always tell them to not only "do not wash my bike" but do not put any type of B.S rag on the paint. I would rather wash off the grease myself than have to argue about who used a dirty rag and scratched my paint. Black bikes are a bitch to take care of and I don't want anybody taking care of it but me.

I do agree with the op on this too.. His bike, his request.... it shouldnt have been done no matter what...
But...
like one guy said.. for me,
it aint gunna wash itself
I mean, somebody has to get the bugs off of it..
Washing my Deuce and now my Road Glide, is just way too much like work...
So, my problem is.... unless I have the extended service contract, or a new warranty...
My bike will never see a dealer anyhow...
what a predicament, i am in now, huh...

That's my feeling. I keep saying I'm going to paint mine and do some cosmetic stuff, but I never get around to it, because I just don't care much about how it looks and I don't want to miss any riding time with it apart. I did wash it this year...once...then I rode with the seat wet - didn't seem like a major problem.

How is somebody going to dry the inside of a seat? The water in the seat was just an all day reminder that they completely ignored my request.

So not only were my panties in a bunch they were wet to boot!

They washed the inside of your seat too?

I never have issues with the inside of my seat getting soaked.
You got a hole in it or something? Use any conditioners on it?

All sarcasm aside: Listen, I get your point about not wanting it washed.

But you act as if they put your crank shaft in backwards.
It's not that big a deal.
Swirls can be fixed and you are gonna be waxing anyway.
