I just pick up a deuce that has big shot pipes on it . And the bike is loud. When I look in to the end of the pipe I see a nice spiral baffle but no end cap on it. Is this normal or is there spose to be a cap welded on there ?

 

That's normal. Both the baffle and the sound level. V&H has "Quiet" baffles you can buy, which are capped at the front. They will give you a little less volume but are deeper sounding.

 

If I remove the baffles and weld a large washer on the end for a cap would this help.
