6th gear pull at what speed?
#31
For my bike the sweet spot for 6th seems to be between 62-65mph. I'll shift into 6th at 60mph if I'm on dead flat straight road . . .but any kind of hills or lots of curves and I'd be in 5th.

The Harley engine starts to lug below around 1800, but they also like to rev (you can shift all day at 4-5K and it won't harm the thing)...Make 'em buzz and you'll get along fine...

Depends on what kind of riding you're doing. If you're just cruising along the interstate 6th gear at 60mph is ok. At 70mph and in 6th gear my bike runs at about 2700 rpm. For my bike, that's the sweet spot. I usually don't shift into 6th until 65 mph. But if I'm just casually cruising along I may be in 6th gear at 55 or 60 mph. Not often though.

If it feels good to you, go for it.
Just don't expect no 100k miles out of that motor.
I geared down mine with a 49t clutch sprocket and I still won't dare play with 6th in the ranges you speak of.
BTW: What's up with riding long *** stretches at 50mph?
Do you not want to arrive someday at your destination?
Do you love having a mile long train of cages on your *** trying to pass you?
What do your riding buddies think of this?

Personally, I prefer 6th at 80 mph. Gets you where you are going.

I don't ride at those speeds often but I know it gets the best mileage is that range. Won't get the same MPG if I kick it up into 6th and run it in that RPM range.

FWIW....the terrain (road levels, hills, degree of turns, etc.), traffic conditions, and time of needed arrival (6th at 80) will determine what gear you need to be in. It is my understanding that 6th gear is an "overdrive" gearing to let off "tension" to the engine, get better gas mileage; basically a better top end speed to rpm ratio.
