Straight pipes and inspection

Straight pipes and inspection
Be easy on the noob here, but I have a question about inspections.
My new-to-me shovel has straight pipes that are nice and loud. Just the way I like them.
However, it looks like NY requires them to be under a certain amount of decibels.
I fixed my brake lights, head lamps, added a horn, and now I was hoping there is some sort of go around for the pipes so I don't have to buy a new set with mufflers.
The previous owner supposedly had a friend in the right place who was able to get it passed, but so far I do not have that luxury.
Are there inserts or slip ons or something like that?
Or am I getting worried over nothing and the dealership might have some solution for me?
If I need to buy a set of pipes with mufflers to use each year at inspection time, what might this cost me?
Thanks. Just trying to get an idea of what I am in for when I bring it in for inspection.

Gotta be careful with that in some states...In Va., your vehicle with antique plates has to meet the safety requirements of that year. If you are found in violation of the antique plate rules, you can use the privledge of antique plates for 5 years.

Buy some baffles and install them...if they are not quiet enough...put a wad of steel wool in front of them...go get inspected...drive home take them back out

Adirondacker, drop by the station that you would be most likely to use and ask the tech what he thinks. If he hasn't a problem with your current set-up then get it done with them. If he does then ask him what it has to have to get the sticker. I use North End in P'burg. Good people and enthusists of old iron as well.
