no assumptions - I used what info you posted

hopefully the advice I gave saves someone's life ....
getting knocked out = don't let that person make any life altering decisions for 24-72 hours

I've had a couple of group rides that I was not even involved with wash my *** out a few times cause of those dumbass "stop waves" (*******(s) that can't negotiate a turn at speed causing the wave of brake lake lights.) I avoid group rides like the plague. I'm all about giving to charity, but don't take that **** to the effin street. Gather together leave separately is my thoughts. However, I do favor the PGR.

Very good advice. I'm glad your wife is going to be okay. I've never ridden with a large group and the more I hear about stuff like this happening the less chance there will be of me doing so.

My initial comment was inappropriate and I apologize.

Your point is extremely sound advice and well taken.

I can personally attest to your statement from an incident of my own 5 years ago when I went down hard and had the bike land on my chest. I picked it up and rode home and continued about my business for the next three days which included dirt biking with my buddies for the weekend. I colasped at the end of the third day, but fortunately was near a major city with a good ER and spent the next week in ICU. As it turns out I had broken 5 ribs and lacerated my spleen in the accident 3 days prior and when I finally went face down I was well on my way to bleeding to death internally.

In this recent situation I continued to remind my wife of my experience and encouraged her to take the ambulance ride. She's very strong willed (one of the many reasons I love her) and not one to take direction from others, especially me. I should have demanded she get checked out but I let it go which was one of the many mistakes I made that day.

Again your point is spot on and I too hope that it helps save someone's life.

I apologize for my rude comment. I am extremely angry with myself and embarrassed about all the mistakes I made that day.

Thank you.

Glad she is OK and ready to roll again! Cannot believe they did not stop........just unbelievable. Your story reminds me why we ride as a group of two. I had a few friends and family I would ride with back home in Indiana but not have found any out here. (not looking either)

A story like this reminds me of why we like riding our "gang of two."

There are some Road Captains (these two for example) who see a ride out as an opportunity to show-off their riding 'skills' and to act the big men...******** the lot of 'em.....

You said it Ride Your Own Ride.Mother and I have ridden many group rides all of them different. It's all about fitting in and watching out for all that could possibly happen. We still enjoy the group rides and look forward to them,at the same time we have always enjoyed being out on our own not having to answer to anyone. There is fun to be had either way.

+1000 another reason I hate big group rides! The only exception to that rule I make is the America's 911 Memorial Ride. They've gotten so experienced at herding a large crowd down the road, and since it's escorted, I ride it anyway.
