First, thank goodness she is ok!! dang!!
I am lucky and happy that has not happened here with the local HOG group.
These guys and girls are great..and they make no bones about not leaving anyone behind for any circumstances.

if a group that big is going to ride together they need to pick leaders who are responsible and intelligent . these two fail on both counts . your friend who organizes this ride needs a good talking to , and he needs to give the two idiots a good talking to , and possible boot them from the group
glad to hear your wife is doing well

Glad your wife is okay. Group is not for most beginner riders. As you get more riding skills it's easier to do group rides and side by side riding. As you see the police ride side by side daily and have very little problems. I know riding as the road guard take a group to work. If you are not going to let your road guards in as traffic go by things like this can happen to the new riders. Sorry for your wife's mishap try to better your riding skills and not to ride around other people.

Wow - the missus is very skilled/lucky. Sounds like it could've been much worse.
Good to read everything is OK. Bike can be repaired.
The title of this thread is perfect too!
I try to ride only with people I know, and who A) can ride, and B) who give a crap if I (and others) survive.
I've ridden for a long time, and I've boiled it down to these criteria.
I also haven't been in a group ride (over 4 bikes) in at least 15 years.

There are only 8 people that I would group ride with. 4 of them are freinds that I have been riding with for 20+ years and the other 4 are my wife, son, daughter and son-in law.
Beyond that, I dont group ride at all.

We ride every week end with 100 to 400,000 bikes at a time. Yes there are some people you just should not have to not ride around because of there skill level is not right for a group ride. We still let them ride but we need to put a guard around them. As they all over the road with out the group in mind. We all leave and come back together. As for blocking roads the road guard do a great part for the ride. We use from a couple road guards to 20 or 30 road guards. If your group has not told you how your group road is going to work before your ride or you were not there to hear. Most group will tell how the roads guards are going to work. It's the same way every ride around here.

I have enough idiots to watch out for when on the road. Don't need some dumazz running me off. I usually ride alone. I have a few friends who I ride short hops with once and a while. They always want to ride side by side. I ride staggered period.
