If you need to look where the horn is when you want to use it, it will be too late. You don't look at the horn of your car when you use it, Do you? Get to know your bike handcontrols position without looking where they are. It takes a second to take your eyes off the road to find yourself in trouble. I do not think motorcycles will ever have luminated hand controls because you need to keep your eyes on the road all the time.

Ride safe

Plus at night the lights in your line of sight could be distracting and make you think its a car or something, wait whats that you say? Not everyones handgrips are above eye level? impossible!

Your favorite parts of your wife or girlfriend or both aren't lighted and I would hope that you have no trouble finding those in the dark.

The highbeam indicator on my FLSTSC is bright, blinding and distracting enough by itself.

I've pretty much gotten use to where everything is on my Ultra Classic but I still hit the horn evry once in a while when I'm feeling for the left turn signal. I feel so silly!

Because if you need to see them to use them you shouldn't be riding.
What a bunch of BS. When you first started riding you learn how to ride first and signal much later. Signaling is not covered during the MSF. As a new rider I blew the horn at a lot of cars while trying to make a left turn. I took it upon myself to practice but when I wear thicker gloves (when it's cold) I will hit the wrong button. I can see the safety issue with taking your eyes off the road, but I would like to see lights on the switches too. Besides your suppose to take your eyes off the road every few seconds to check your mirrors, other lanes, speed, and surroundings. I wouldn't take my eyes of the road to blown the horn but when everything is calm around me, I would look down to hit the signal until I got use to its location.

aren't you s'posed to figure out where the controls are in the parking lot or driveway? Going down the road isn't the place to be gawking at your handlebars.

No disrespect to anyone of a different viewpoint, but I really have to agree with 4merRacer on this one.
