Having thought about the original post from PaulC for a few minutes, and being from another location "around the globe" from the USA myself, I take the concept of his statement about "permission" in a humorous sense similar to the Aussie way to say "lets go for a ride-- I've got a 'leave pass' from the missus".
Just meaning one has had discussion with his or her "significant other" about doing something outside of the concept of "doing it together". You can say "I'm going for a ride" as a statement but still mention to mates that you have a 'leave pass' or "permission".

Tongue in cheek stuff....

another thing you wont find at smokeout is dcks.

I dont care how many toys you got. all i care about is if you rode your bike to the event and if you're interested in being part of the party. if our brand of fun doesn't appeal to you feel free to visit any one of the 9 billion bike rallies that aren't smokeout.
Don't recall bragging about having toys, Don't recall saying I was going, don't recall saying anything about it not being fun, or the people that go not having fun, Don't recall saying ANYTHING negative about the Smokeout, you, or anyone that attends. Don't recall ever meeting you so that you can make an opinion whether I am a DCK or not. Just made a little joke about RV at the Smokeout and you treated it like I drove a 50' Rv over top of your campsite and ruined your weekend. Relax Dude

doesn't have to be one of the big ones.
If over there means you are coming from Europe?, pick Sturgis, start on the East coast and ride across the country, camp at Buffalo Chip, great party. We do Sturgis every 3rd year, takes us 5-6 days riding to get there from our part of Canada but it's a great ride.
