Default Whats worse than riding in the rain?

Riding 3 hours in the rain, getting to the toll booth 5 mins from your house and getting rear ended as you hand the man the money by some a-hole on a cell phone, whos got a suspended license and no insurance.Luckily for me the damage wasnt too bad, bent rear fender and left mirror.Luckily for him the PA cops were right there, because I was about to commit a felony. Not so lucky for him is,he's going to spend a night in the box,and I know all the guys with the keys to the box.

I took my first long trip on my sportster (no windshield) to go home to visit my parents. It was about 600KM. I had the bike maybe a few months prior, and felt confident to make the trip. Of course, with my luck, it starts pouring rain 100KM into the trip, and kept raining the entire time. Cars were pulling over to the side of the road because visibility was nil. I almost got side-swiped a dozen times during this process. Other bikes were stopping under overpasses, but I was far too proud to stop. At one point, a tire of a transport truck exploded into four rubber pieces. A car ran over these, and one flew up and right at me. I smacked my head against the tank and the tire just barely passed me.

I've pretty much got all the bad stuff out of the way. I don't think anything can surprise me.

It sucks you got hit after all that. But as long as it's cosmetic and can be fixed (or improved!) then I guess it's a learning experience all around.

What lesson is there to learn here? How not to get rear ended? I had a friend of mine get killed years ago at a toll booth. The guy did not even slow down. He blew right through it. There were no cell phones then.
