We Failed...
Well, the wife and I thought we would try to do a Saddle Sore 1000 over Labor Day weekend. We had been planning the ride all summer and had wanted to do it in August but timing just didn't work out. She rides an 883L.
Saturday morning we got up at 3:00 AM and were at the gas station filling up our bikes by about 4:20 AM. It was a COLD morning with a bit of rain. We rode like the wind but took too many leasurely breaks. SO, by 11:00 PM that night we had only ridden 875 miles. We were COLD, TIRED and STRESSED OUT from riding through the dark with herds of deer standing next to the highway for the last 3 hours or so. We ended up getting a hotel room for the night. We got up Sunday and finished the ride home through rain, blustery cold wind and got home about 3:00 PM. We added about 1,130 miles to both our motorcycles in less than 36 hours. We will give it another go again next summer, earlier in the year when the days are warmer and longer.
Was a lot of fun and even though it was a bit COLD, it was an incredible ride!!!!

+1, not to mention that she was on a Sportster. That was no small feat, especially for her.
