Clean it real good with brake clean and take for a ride.If it is leaking anywhere you will see it.After 17 years that bike don't owe you anything.

put some dye in the motor .when it leaks you can use a black light to see the glowing yellow leak.

How bad is it leaking?
With that old of a bike you might want to use an indy, instead of dealers.
If you want to find the leak yourself. Thoroughly clean and degrease the transmission.
Add dye to the fluid, dusting the outside of the suspected area with baby powder will make it easier to see.
This is the advice I would follow as well.

Also, How bad does it leak? how long does it take to start leaking? I would have the whole area in question degreased and let it sit overnight. Take it around the block, check it. Then take it for longer and longer rides until you just see some seepage. Obviously it's hard to find a leak when there is oil everywhere by the time you check it.

Since the Harley oil apparently contains Dye, check it with the "black-light" after a very short ride to see if the black-light shows something you can't see with the naked eye. I would also check it with a black-light after it's de-greased and before you take it out to make sure dye residue isn't laying anywhere before you start the leak-check process.

The hardest part will probably be finding a mechanic who wants to invest the time to FIND the leak. As a former mechanic I can tell you that a 17 year old vehicle that's been through 2 or 3 guys already trying to fix a nagging problem doesn't exactly take priority in a service shop. When we were jammed up with work those cars (or bikes) just sat there until the owner got disgusted and came to pick up their vehicle. Your best bet is to find an indy hungry for work.

Your post goes all over the place but still I can`t tell if you even know where the oil is coming from..

Is it coming from the Engine, Transmission or Primary.

Put automatic transmission in the primary, does not matter what type.

Put Redline Heavy Shockproof in the transmission.

Wash the bike, go for a ride.

Look at the oil underneath the bike, and you will know what is leaking.

Once it is clear which part is leaking, we will be able to help.

This leak can be found.

So I give them a call today to see if I can find out if there are any old TSB's about my transmission case. [/quote] The TSB is old..but goes back even further than the 93 your having issues with. Harley had porosity problems with some aluminum part years back. And the bottom of the trans case was on the list. Spray the whole underside of the trans with brake cleaner and wipe it down real well. Maybe a few times. Put a 2x4 under the jiffy stand to keep the bike upright, Make sure the trans is full. Don't run it. Let it sit overnite and see if theres oil seeping thru the metal. Its a shot in the dark, but I had an 85 that did the same ****. And on a front valve cover.

Life is getting better. Not one mention of "It's an HD, they all leak".

Yeah, if you call Honda MoCo about an issue with your bike, they send over 20 beautiful Japanese girls to service all your personal needs while a team of mechanics fixes your bike on the spot.

... or, maybe they'd just tell you to bring it to a dealer.

didnt say **** about buying a new Honda, but I did say I wont buy another new Harley.Seems to me an oil pump failure at 7000 is at least an argument for a defective part. Thats all . Didnt ever consider them picking up the whole tab.

Something to think about , I'm not sure about that particular model but there were some issues with late 80's & some early 90's evo engine's having casting problems with cases . The cast in steel boss for the timken bearing would separate from the alum. and push oil past into the primary , some cases would just plain weep oil when hot mostly on the inside rear around the motor mount area . Would act and look like a trans. or primary problem , I saw a few personally and HD was doing R&R but you had to have the problem before and it was shuffled off as warranty issues instead of a faulty part recall and they were real abrupt and non informative about it .
