Two entirely different bikes. I actually had a deposit down on an 06 Night Rod. This was in 07, the bike had 3000 miles and I could have bought it for $10,000 even. The 3.5 gallon tank just killed it for me at the time. I do a lot of long rides. I still regret not buying it though. The 07's and up have the 5 gallon tank. I really like the V-Rods with the mid controls. So of course they're not making them anymore.

The V-Rod performance is WAY above the 883 Sportster. Apples and oranges.

Ditto, VRods are dirt cheap, maybe not the SE. Real bikers have more than one.

I'll take the new technology, especially when a company from the Fatherland helped in engine design.

I'd like the V-rods better if they had mid pegs

I love sportsters, my current one is sitting on rigid struts.( I know apes, rigid struts ...& saddle bags?!?! )
Each of my bikes offer a diffrent experiance and thats whats great about owning more than one. Which one you ride that day depends on your mood or what kind of riding you feel like. I know its not easy to do but if you can, get both. You'll smile everytime the garage door goes up and there's 2 or more stairing back at ya ! !
