Sportster vs.vrod

Do you want to go like a raped ape or cruise, simple as that for me. V-rods for me are just not that comfortable to ride, but they do go like a banshee. I'd stick with the sporty.

When I decided I wanted an air cooled Harley, I too could not decide which one I wanted so I bought one of each family. Problem solved.
It did take three years to add them all.

Which one do you put the most miles on? I'm merely curious.

kabluie. The 07 Softail Custom has 5K on it from being trailered to rallies to look cool on. The 08 Buell Ulysses has 10K on it from the ride last year to the Arctic Circle(that is all that it was for and is retired now). The 09 XR1200 has 1.2k just doing local twisties which it is good at. The 010 Dyna Super Glide which was added a month ago has 1.5K and is used for straight roads and to launch wot. The 010 Ultra is for long distance interstate runs and has 8K on it.
I had three metrics with the 07 FXSTC in 07 and traded them off for the HD's in the following years and they had about 16K miles between them before I traded. So, I average about 10K to 12K per year.

I like Sporty's, I really do. But theres a reason the V-Rods are twice as much money and the SE V-Rods are triple the cost of an 883....they are way better motorcycles. Yeah, better is a relative thing, I get that too.

Street glide.... J/K
The vrod seems to inspire some passion in you where as the sporty is all about how much money you have sunk in it. If money were no object which bike would you get? When you pick THAT bike save up until money isn't a factor anymore, and be happy. That way you're not looking at someone elses bike wondering what if.

I don't know what's going on but I'm done posting from my phone because it keeps double posting and the forum has stopped catching it and deleting the 2nd post for some reason.

Same - that would be my last choice among anything with "Harley Davidson" on it. I'd even take a Rocker over a V-Rod...probably.

Get a Wiseco 1200cc kit. Have your jugs bored to keep the price down. SE air cleaner, mild cams, maybe get the heads worked over. Some decent gaskets. SE ignition module. Good exhaust. For about $1500.00 that Sportster will be a different bike. And its pretty easy.
