check out www.skullcrushgear.com They carry low profile helmets made of Kevlar & Carbon Fiber. These are novelty helmets & thus non-DOT certified but might be what you are looking for. I might wear one myself if I didn't live in a 'DOT helmet required' state.

those helmets look really nice.... might be a good alternative to the 2X fulmer that I can't fit my head in to..... Has anyone tried one of these?

I'll take a look at those. I too live in a DOT only state, but around my county they don't hassle you. When I am going to be in a neighboring county or further, I switch between my dot vega half and shoei ff, depending on the situation (and weather). Basically this is just an around town and such sort of helmet, where I know I won't be hassled. If I get a ticket, well...I know the stakes going Into the game.

If your looking for quality, you need to forget novelty.

nov·el·ty (nvl-t)
n. pl. nov·el·ties
A small mass-produced article, such as a toy or trinket.

I think they are saying they want a 'safe' novelty helmet....although it may not be DOT certified...as in "an Air Force jet fighter helmet that is used by a person to go Mach 2
and survive an ejection from an aircraft is not DOT certified to ride on a motorcycle."
They are looking for a (ahem)...good novelty helmet...not statistics.

that's them! formerly ACC (advanced carbon composistes) again these guys charged people near $200 for DOT helmets they knew weren't close to qualifying for DOT certification. when called out for it and forced to refund peoples money they closed up shop and gave everyone they ripped off a big "eff you"...

i wouldn't do business with them.
