Thanks for the replies. I really wasnt worried about what they thought. I was just thinking out loud. I ride with several friends that dont wear helmets and here I am with helmet and jacket on. Thanks for all of your thoughts.

Having totaled 3 bikes and dropped a couple others, I know the value of protection. However, that doesn't mean I always wear it. Then again, I do other stupid stuff, too. Yes, not wearing protective gear is completely stupid. I've never wondered why someone wore protective gear because it's obvious. I have wondered why someone didn't....including myself. However, I have no dependents. If I did, I'd never ride with less than a quality helmet, leather jacket, boots, jeans, etc.

On a side note, one of my accidents was bad enough I didn't ride anything for about 5 years. Not from fear of getting hurt again. Just thought it was an unnecessary risk. Then I realized that no matter what, you risk your life every day so why not live it to the fullest while you can?
