Default Inner tube swap $60!!

I took my rear wheel into the local HD shop to have my tube swapped out since a nail punctured the tube. Anyway, I walked into the dealer with just the wheel, they didn't have to take it off the bike. I came back on hour later and they charged me $57!!! I can't believe it. This is the last time I do that! The local indy would have charged me about $20.

Tube and rebalance - shoud`nt have been more than $30 - I would expect that if they had to remove the wheel for you.

If that price included tube, that's not that bad. If it didn't it's about twenty-five dollars too high.

You knew the indy would charge you $20 and you took it to Harley. You chose poorly.

The tube itself was probably $25-$30. Should have change it yourself, the tools to do it aren't expensive and it isn't that difficult.

I was reading on here and people were posting that when they took their wheels to their local dealers they would swap the tube out for free. I definitely chose poorly!!

It's a given that any dealer, car, bike or otherwise is going to be more (much) than an "indy". Lot more overhead. Sign posted in my dealer says the labor rate is $85 an hour. It is what it is. If I can do the work myself I do it. If not I pay others to do it.

Ask what the tube costs - it's freakin' expensive.
I needed one in a pinch and picked it up from a dealer, holy crap...
