could it be possible that excessive noise could throw off my equalibrium in my ears just enough to cause the unsteady feeling ?

RE: Uneasy feeling when riding...
I know the feeling, just can't describe it or explain it. I don't get it all the time, just occationally and usually on a long ride or trip. However, since my accident back in February, I am a bit more uneasy than usual.
Just error on the side of caution and be extra careful. I remember what an old biker told me years back when I started riding.
Never be in a hurry to get anywhere.
You NEVER have the right of way, even if you have the green light. To many cagers run light and stop signs.
