Default yesterday's ride through NC, VA and KY

Took a great 330-mile ride yesterday so I thought I would share some pics. We left northwestern NC at 7:45 yesterday morning and rode to Breaks Interstate Park at the VA/KY line, then on in to Pikeville, KY before heading home. Here was our route:

A few pics at the park. We are standing in VA looking across the gorge into KY. In the first pic you can see the train entering the tunnel.

A few more of the gorge:

Our ride leader:

Here is the crew heading down 23 from Pikeville, KY to Wise, VA

This is White's Mill about 4 miles outside of Abingdon, VA. It was built in 1790 and is all original. This thing is only 3 years younger than the Constitution.

I ride across Whitetop Mountain several times a year since I'm fairly close to it, and it's a stretch of road that never gets old. It looks and feels like you're on top of the world when you crest the peak.

Looks like a great ride. I was up in Lansing and the area last week riding. Could you post a link of your map it is hard to see the rodes. With the link would be able to see all of the small roads Thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

The views are, in fact, amazing minus your gut.

That looks like a great ride. I'll have to add that circuit to my list of "must rides".

Scenery looks awesome. I'm heading out that way in a month and will see if that loop will fit into the ride plan. Thanks for posting.

The gut belongs to our ride leader instead of me, but I'll be sure to pass that along.

Man! Do I NEED to MOVE...

South Florida roads are all straight, not to mention FLATTER than a 'carpenter's delight', (unless you count the Turnpike!).
