Default Going to Vegas

My wife and I are going to Vegas in January and she want's me to rent a bike.
Does anyone have any advice for renting, ruote to take, what to see, what to wear or any other advice you could give me that would make this trip more enjoyable from anyone that has been there?

Rented a couple times from las Vegas HD. They have a very large rental fleet. Have been great to me both times. They have maps there for different rides. I liked Red Rock Canyon and Hoover Dam. If you head south on the strip there is a bar out of town called Pioneer Saloon. Really liked that place. Bullet holes in the walls from the wild west days. Have fun!

Average temp in January is 57, so you want to keep that in mind.

I've never rented a bike, but my buddy and his dad rented a couple of Harleys in Vegas a few years back. My buddy had a V-Rod and was having a good old time and what happens? Vegas traffic at rush hour. Lays the bike down, although luckily he walked away with a only a couple of bruises. They came out, picked what was left of the bike up and offered to bring another bike to the hotel he was staying at. I believe he rented from the local dealer, or whoever it is in town that does rentals. He says he'd rent from them again anytime.

That really doesn't have much to do with the original question, just a good story retold poorly.

While in Las Vegas last year I noticed first at the hotel in Vegas then in Kingman AZ, flags on the bike from countries in Europe. I talked with a couple in Kingman Az that flew to Florida rented a bike and rode across the USA. With the exchange rate betweeen the Euro and Dollar they came out ahead.

The new bridge that bypasses Hoover Dam should be open. Take a camera.

Las Vegas HD is 1 of 3 HD dealers in town along with any number of other places that rent bikes. LVHD is by far the #1 pick from what I have heard from others on this site. Average low in Jan is 37 degrees but almost always sunny which helps. Ride thru Valley of Fire and out to Hoover Dam is a nice ride. By January the new bridge will be completed and should be on everyones plans along with the Dam tour.
