Default Not getting a spark maybe? Help!

I just bought a 06 night train a couple weeks ago with 10k on it. When I bought it the previous owner said, "starts right up every time." Which was true while it was cool. As I have rode, I realized that it does cold, but after riding for a while and trying to start it again hot, it hesitates a little, but usually fires up after I give it a little gas. Would this be a spark issue? I'm not sure because of the fact that when I give it gas it fires. Any thoughts?

It does turn over, so I don't think its the starter.

Define "hesitates a lil".

Cranks but not fire right away?
Hesitates before cranking?

Cranks, but doesn't fire right away. I turns over like it is trying to start, but no fire. Think I might run to the harley story and grab new plugs. An easy and cheap place to start. Odd though that its only when its been running for a while.

Sounds like a temp related issue. Maybe the electronci timing is not quite insync at higher temperatures. May need a good diagnostic test ran on it. Good Luck.

Lose the mind set ---plugs are cheap---I will replace anyway. Look at the plugs. Antisieze the plugs before reinstalling. Probably not the plugs. I doubt if it is ignition related but more likely fuel related. A good diagonostic scan will point the mechanic in the right direction but so/so problems are harder to fix.

Do you run quality fuel?

Aw crap, change the plugs before wasting any more time guessing.

I have seen that complaint posted a few times on twincams. Seems if you stop to get gas, takes a few rotations of the starter to get it going...if you let it cool down a few more minutes...starts right up...sounds kinda like vapor lock.

When you change the plugs check the color of the old ones. If they're on the white side it's running lean so it could be a fuel problem. It may need a tuner if it doesn't have one.

I use premium grade fuel. I'm about to head to the store, change them later this afternoon. I'll let yall know what I find. Thanks for the responses. It really helps.

About the tuner, I am thinking I might do that regardless, think the idling RPM's might be a little high and running a little rich as well.

Plug ends are not white, actually a little burnt looking
