Proposed engine build....thoughts from teh masters?
I am putting together a package to build my 2002 tc88 and here is what I have decided on so far. Let me know what you think and how this might possibly perform.
Revolution performance 98" bolt on big bore kit
Heads ported and polished by Big Boys
PCIII
D&D fatcat
Woods T-W 6-6 cams
I have no idea what this will yield but am hoping for at least 100/100.
Thoughts?

Sounds somewhat similar to what I've done: Revolution 98" Nikisil coated cylinders, Wiseco chrome moly forged pistons, Woods gear drive cams (5 or 6, I forget), heads modified by GMR, 10.5:1 compression. V&H duals, PCIII usb, custom mapped. It started out as a 2000 TC, so it has the Magneti Morelli fuel injection which presents some throttle body/fuel management limitations compared to the Delphi set up. Went uo 1 tooth on the front primary sprocket and stuck a 6 sp OD gear set in the transmission. Wanted a good long distance touring motor that lopes along at low to moderate RPM. Ended up with 108 lb.ft of torque and 89 HP (it's not a revver, but makes a very flat torque curve with good torque right off idle.

Mainly I attribute it to the mathematical relationship of torque to HP and the fact that this motor is not a high RPM screamer. A low reving motor that makes moderate torque like mine does will not make a lot of HP as you know. For example, my R1 track bike (I-4 liter bike) makes way less torque than the harley, but because the redline is a stratospheric 13750 RPM, it makes almost double the HP of the Harley. If the 98" motor build I have was a high reving motor and geared for it, it would make more than the 89 peak HP it produces now even if it made less than the current 108 lb.ft of torque.

I'm more interested in torque regardless as I rarely ride at high RPM's. Thanks for the answer, I was curious.

As far as HDs go to me the TC IS a high revving engine, My build is a "hot bagger" style build with around 10.2 comp. and 195 lbs of ccp. the power band is crisp and strong. and i love to buzz when im in town. I rarely granny shift this thing.
My feeling is the 6 cam will product great torque. you just have to give it the cylinder pressure it was designed for so it will shine.
everything else will take care if itself.
