Well..........I think if I was gonna go to the x'pense of add'n cubes, I would'n stop at 98.....I'd prolly go on out to 107(Axtell my choice,there)
I think the Woods/Fatcat are good choices, but I'd up the T-Body too....prolly a 52-58mm HPI.....upgrade to the new'r oil pump....and prolly gear drives on the cams if the run-out on the crank allow'd it(.003 minimum,I think) and have it true'd/weld'd/plug'd ,and when ya get up over 100/100,I think the stock clutch'll have ta go.........

With that woods 6 cam you need close to 10 to 1 corrected compression for it to work well. My corrected compression was something like 8.8 to one and the numbers are low.
85/93. runs great but would run better with the compression set right. oh yea, mine is a 95".

The 6 cam makes good torque, but it doesn't come on until almost 3k. And it pulls great after that. If you like to lope around, you might want to consider a different cam.

Drew, I'd give Bobby Wood a call and talk to him. And maybe call Andrews as well. You might also ask some of the pro builders on here. Plus I'd spend some time looking at the dyno charts posted here on the forum, and look for a build similar to what you have in mind, and one that's on a soft tail. Comparing builds from a bagger to a soft tail may not be wise. I'd definitely try to get a cam that works in the rpm range that you ride in the most. I can't make any recommendations for you, but I did want to point out where the 6 cam comes in. They've got a great reputation, especially on this forum, but it's not always mentioned where their sweet spot starts.
edit..... oh, and just to add something..... It's often advised to add the 4* advance gear to these cams to help move the curve to the left, but recent dyno comparisons on this forum have shown that it makes very little difference to where the cams come in. Certainly not enough of a difference that I would bother with it.

What is your power band going to be? If youre not getting peak torque until 6500 rpms you dont want that cam and head set up. I used a woods cam when I built my evo, I forgot the model cam but it was a .590 lift, the machinist I used here ported my heads to go with the cam and 10:1 compression. The power band was from idle to 4500, and you had to hold on for the ride, it was in a fatboy so it wasnt a tourer. My point is get the right match for the riding you do. I did a lot of research on head porters and a lot of places would give you the deluxe port job for $1500, but when you did the math you would have to ride at 6k+ rpms to get any power out of the bike.
Look at my numbers on my RG, my heads are stock with a little clean up, and the power band is up to 4200 rpms. The best I got was 108 hp and 113 tq. depending on the pipes, I used a 510 cam and have no hot start up issues. If you used a thunderheader, 2:1 pro pipe or supertrapp 2:1's youd get better numbers. I havent seen many people here doing 103 builds and getting these numbers. Good luck on your choice.

I don't have a tachometer, so I really don't know my rpm's, but pretty darn low most of the time. Thanks for all the advice. I have been searching through the Dyno threads for months. I'll call Bob Woods during the week and see what he has to say.
