How to adjustment a dry clutch
#22
Same belt set up I run they work well and those are the cheapest & easiest belt to replace of all the drives out there $45 vs $90 pick up a spare they do pop . You have the nylon retainer in there already only thing I'd get the alum. pressure plate they do help , doesn't warp when hot causing drag and your set pretty good . Ran that setup with a 88" motor for yrs no problems , just you will have to lube the hub bearings by hand at least yearly depending on mileage .
Looking good .
PS . Look up BDL belt drives on line and get the instructions for that drive , DO NOT run that belt tight they don't like it . PM me if you can't find anything I'll send a copy if I can find it .

Twizted,
I tried to google the BDL drives but am having trouble finding the one that looks like mine.
If you have a link, they would be great. Othewise I could pm you my email address. Thanks for the offer.
Is there a specific sized belt I have to ask for? (Belt width and diameter?
I also have another question for you or anyone else...
Does the gearbox/transmission use tranny fluid of some sort or does it simply use the same 60 Wt. oil that gets filled in the reservoir and used in the engine.
I ordered a Harley manual but until I get it, I'm hoping you guys don't get tired of my questions.
Thanks again for the help.

http://www.beltdrives.com/4731se5.html pretty sure this is yours . They list 2 models matching the 5sp shovel , since yours is rubber mount it should a different belt than mine , bit shorter . 92 tooth 11mm x 1 1/2" BDL 5S11
I'll look for the instructions & adjustment stuff it's basic .
Check this place for parts cheap

Early 5sp straight 50wt or HD trans.fluid but anything synthetic in an older bike is going to leak .
