I bought a used 64 in 69 and the sales guy was trying to talk me into a new one with the "King of the road" package for around $1,750.00. I told him there was no way in hell I could pay that much for a Motorcycle!

Below is a scanned pic of me on the 64.

What a beauty,and a great memory.Back in the early 60's I bought a 53 Panhead it looked almost identicle to yours except white on black paint.Rode mine for almost 10 yrs the last three as a chopper.Yup I got the bug and chopped it,blame it on young and feeling the need for speed.Sure loved that bike.

Fantastic looking bike. You are one lucky guy to have a wife to buy it for you. I believe that most guys' wives would rather sell their bike than buy them one!

Not trying to knock your thread, but unless you have reciepts, theres almost no way he paid $5K for a '59 Duo-Glide. You could but three for that price.

In '59 Harley offered at least 13 different solo finish groups, none which totaled the price of the bike over $2000.

Base model FLH's were $1345, and regular FL's were $1280.

Well, I guess I will just tear up the copy of the original purchase docs I have then, you being the expert and last word on the subject. Thanks for calling me a liar.

For that price I'll take two. Talk about a bunch of fun. I bet you didn't sleep too well the first night you got it. Beautiful story and pics.

Never said I was an expert, never called you a liar. But hey, guys like Bruce Palmer and Greg Fields write books with original pricing info, because, they are the experts. I'm just trying to figure out what option group he bought that tripled the base price of the bike...

Take a look;
