Short Rides?
I was wondering if taking short trips on the bike will have any bad effects on it? I work less than a mile from where I live, but I usually take the bike to/from work as often as I can. Any reasons not too?

As long as it get's up to operating temp it shouldn't be a problem so rev her up.

I'd take the long way whenever possible! Seriously, you need to get the oil temp up hot enough or it could hurt if routinely used like that.

Short runs aren't good for any internal combustion engine. But unless you plan on walking or riding a bicycle to work, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Back and forth to work isn't a big deal. Take her out of a nice long putt whenever you can. She and you will both be happier for it.

I also live a mile from work. Just make sure to take it out on the weekends and put at least 30 or so miles on it to burn any moisture (water) out of the oil.

It has to be at operating temps for 10 or 15 minutes to keep the moisture at bay,or so the experts claim.

Air cooled motors get pretty hot pretty fast so I would`nt worry about it - like the others here said - do a weekender run for 20-30 miles.

While they may warm up quick, I'm not so sure a mile is going to do it, I'm betting it won't.
Change oil a bit more often and like said, get out for them 30-40 minute rides when you can.
