Default RE: Billy Lane causes fatal crash

An accident happened about 5 miles from my home last week.

Drunk in pickup was driving home and swayed across center line hitting bike. 3 other bikes then also crashed into pickup.

Drunk driver backed up, turned into his driveway, then drove through his front lawn and took off.

2 dead at scene and 6 in critical condition.

They caught the guy and he's in jail awaiting trial. Not his first DUI.

A damn shame!!!

It's so easy to get in BIG trouble. That's way the DOT's put double-yellow lines on roads - for safety. Let's all be carefull - waiting another couple seconds in the scheme of life is worth it.

Passing in a no passing zone and killing another driver, he's looking at vehicular manslaughter minimum. Probably plead it down to something less though. my deepest sympathy to the moped mans family.

I would love to represent that poor guys family. I kinda have a personal vendetta against anyone who crosses the centerline and hits a bike.[:@]

Most fatal accidents don't result in immediate charges. There will be an investigation, the information will probably be presented to a grand jury & they will probably decide the charges.
If you are to quick to charge, and the defendant pleads, you may not be able to file additional
charges due to double jeopardy.

There is a Billy Lane somewhere in all of us. Let's take a lesson from this terrible tragedy and try to be better drivers and persons...
That is correct. We love bikes, we put a lot of miles on them but I am sure the most of us are more driving than riding. I dont say that anybody will cross the double yellow lines but let's think about what we do wrong when driving.
