In Maine;
Camden on Rt1 is very pretty. Cappy's Chowder house, on RT1 downtown, is good place for...chowder in Camden. Young's Lobster Pound in Belfast is good for Lobster.
In Bar Harbor, Geddy's is good for beer and drinks - can't say about the food. Go to the top of cadillac Mt., it's free. Do the park loop road, most of it is free, take Otter Cliff Rd off of Rt3 and you get 3/4's of the park Loop road for free. ****** Pond House in Acadia NP is very nice. There is Construction on RT1A between Ellsworth and Bangor - it's getting better. Rt2 out of Bangor, you go by Central Maine HD ( 207-848-5709 ) in Hermon, good folks. Anglers Restaurant on Rt 2 Newport has good road food.
Rt2 west of Rumford is scenic. Just before Bethel Me there is the http://www.sundayriverbrewpub.com/, good beer and food and right beside Rt2. You might want to look at Rt16 out of Gorham NH down to Bartlet NH. You go by Mt Washington and through Pinkham Notch very beautiful. Go through North Conway, or around it on the West Side Highway, and get on Rt112 the Kangamangus ( the kanc ) highway for a spectacular ride over the mountains ( maybe not in bad weather ) and come out in Woodstock NH. That's all I got for you for now.

I live in NY and ride throughout New England all the time and if I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about taking any particular route. Anywhere you go in NY, VT, NH, ME, will be a nice scenic ride. Some of the roads can be rather rough and it can get kind of cool this time of year so bring warm clothes.
