Harley dual voltage heated vest

Harley dual voltage heated vest
Just bought the heated vest; battery or 12V; according to the included manual (1/2" thick and a perfect example of multilingual bafflegab) I can't use the SAE battery tender plug even though they sell an adaptor...what gives?

I didn't want to have to run two harnesses so I removed my battery tender harness and hooked up the harness from my Gerbing gear which has a coax connector. It handles my full setup of gear. When I want to run my battery tender I use an SAE to Coax adapter.
The obvious question that came to mind when I did this was whether it was okay to run a higher amp fuse with the battery tender. I don't know if the tender fuse is designed to protect the battery from a defective tender putting out too many amps or to protect the tender from a short back from the battery. Couldn't see any danger of either and I haven't had any problems.
