Stay out of Hampton NH. Supposedly cracking down on loud pipes.
If going through Vt, make sure your helmet is DOTapproved. State police are enforcing this too according to some threads on here.

In Boston, hit the Quincy (Faneiul Hall) Marketplace for lunch & shopping, then the North End (walking distance from the Quincy) for dinner. Been all over & can honestly say I've never tasted better food than in Boston's North End.

On Route 1 in Rockport, ME, make sure to pull over into the Harbor Park and have a look. One of the most beautiful harbors in the country.
Old Orchard Beach is nice if you like big sandy beaches.
I'm not a big fan of riding in major cities, but north of Boston, Rockport, MA is a nice little town. Good seafood in the area.
On the way back up, I 87 is a lot prettier than you might think. Really beautiful north of Albany heading up thru the hills and along the Hudson. You might consider heading over that way as you head back to Montreal. Lake George area is nice, Adirondacks are beautiful.

Do not miss the Kankamagus, and bear notch. Take route 3 too. Simply stunning scenery. Avoid Mt. Washington. It's a great view, but if you're going with a group, 22 bucks per motorcycle sums up to a pretty big bunch of money. It's gorgeous there, though.

Bring some warm clothes. Even though it's still August and it warms up nicely when the sun comes up, it is getting cooler at night. Was in the 40's when I got up this morning.

Thanks for some great tips...looking forward to this trip. Just got an electric vest for the cool weather...hope it helps; used to use an electric jacket liner on the ATV; it was a lifesaver there. I'll "plot" the suggestions on the map tomorrow...any more???
