Older Bikers, Remember when??

Raisin Pie! When the magazine first came out I was just home from Vietnam. It was wild and they wouldn't sell it in the PX for obvious reasons. There was a newsstand in Clarksville 20 miles away that sold it but only got 3 copies, so some months I missed it.

No joke; actually it's kind of sad the way many big twin riders characterize the sporty's now. Almost as bad as eating your own young... My first Harley was a sporty; I loved that bike and sure as hell wish I still had her. It was never referred to as a girls bike.

not a old motorbike head, but a old motorhead none the less.. i remember the days of making gaskets out of cereal boxes(still do in a pinch), using fishing line as a throttle cable to get home. me keeping a ballast resistor in the glove box, my buddies cheb with spare rocker arms. putting eggs in radiators to stop the leak.. the list goes on... most of the guys i work with now have never seen a carb much less overhauled one, and have no clue what the inside of a altenator or starter looks like..

Great memories! I ...almost...miss:
Building an engine with the buds 'till 3am...to go on a run at 9 - white cross and wine for breakfast.
Clutch cable spare coiled inside the headlight.
P38s, spare wire wrapped around boot, bulbs in pockets.
Spare Zener diode on the parts truck, plus battery.
Using nail polish for threadlock - oh wait, I still DO that!
The pile of beercans in the corner of garages. We'd say we peed on 'em hoping they'd grow up to be a Honda.
