Would You Buy New HD If They Moved To Mexico Or Overseas
#12
I would not buy a new Harley Davidson motorcycle if it were built/assembled overseas. Period. That's my line in the sand. Cross it and there's no difference between a metric and an HD in my mind....

Yes, I wouldn't want to ride another make. And I only guy GM vehicles, although I refer my bikes and vehicles to be built in the USA, it won't stop me from buying if they are assembled in Mexico or Canada.

I had at one time considered buying one of BMW's dual sport type bikes, but when I heard the motors were made in Korea, and I couldn't find out who by, I said no friggin way! I bought my E-Glide for just a few dollars more than a 650 from BMW. Sad isn't it.
I'm keeping my 06' till the bitter end!

A. harley wasn't talking about moving out of the U.S. - they were talking about moving out of the north/Wisconsin. Kentucky is one of the states where they looked at land.
B. Yes, I'd still buy one if they were made in Mexico or Japan - if you think a "Made in USA" label is the only thing that raises Harley above the rice burners...you probably don't have one.

As long as it was the same bike and not all changed around, it would not stop me from buying another. That would fall into the category of hurting myself just to hurt someone else. Do without my beloved toy, just to boycott them for moving.
Not gonna happen unless they ruin the bike and make it look foreign or sound different.
If I was to boycott everything made outside this country, I would not have a TV to watch nor a phone to call people with. My car would not have a radio in it. My house would not have any light fixtures. I can go on forever,..... but you get the idea.
Of course I am NOT in favor of them moving, but I am not going to punish MYSELF for it.

Haven't heard anything about it myself (I live in México).
I worked for a company that manufactured all the speedometers and some other components for Harley. Nationalism and business last together as long as profits hang around with 'em. Take Corona beer for an example, produced in México but long time owned by foreing capitals... it sucks... it's the way damn business are...
Mimo.
Ps: I'd have to visit the facilities and get convinced that the manufacturing/quality transference was indeed successful. I'd probably buy one.
