New breed of bikers????

I couldn't agree more.
It's laughable the amount of judgement that goes on here. So some 45 year old guy decides he wants to ride a motorcycle for the first time, He buys a new bike. He's a poser. He buys a new leather jacket (cuz he didn't have an old one) he's a poser, but If he bought an old leather jacket...he'd be a poser. He joins HOG to meet some other people with similar interests...poser. Whatever you do , don't buy a shirt at the HD dealership unless you've been riding 20 years and pieced your bike together from parts you found while scouring the motorcycle graveyards of your misspent youth. Just remember you didn't fall out of the womb in worn out jeans, leather chaps and a tattered harley t'shirt knowing how to ride. Maybe the only difference betwen you and the people you call posers is your "uinform's" a little older.
As for this "new school" of bikers, more power to 'em. It doesn't look all that new to me. Looks alot like self expression...the reason the original "posers" (that use of posers was a joke) got into riding. You don't like it...that's cool, but respect the fact that they're doing their thing just like you and there's someone out there that doesn't like what you're doing.
I may disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
I say "pose on"!!!! Fake it till you make it!

In addition to my '01 FXST I have 2 sportsters.
This is a 94 that I have been planning on using for a build on a hardtail frame...Until I have time to do that I've just done some things to it to make it mine....It's a fun bike to ride.

yes. its fact.
i met a lot of righteous ****'s at smokeout. everyones doing their thing. doesn't matter what you ride. what matters is that you ride.
you gotta respect a group that does 3,000 miles for a two-day party in the dirt.
i met a few guys with the farty old harley attitude. they stayed in motels, whined about the heat, whined about the lack of vendors, and passed us when we were broke down. douchebags every one.
but i saw an old biker pull parts off the shovelhead in the back of his truck and give them to a complete stranger. so good people come in all shapes and sizes.

I'm in my early 30s, but I've been riding since I was a kid on dirtbikes. I ride for my own enjoyment (and sanity), and I don't care what anyone else does. I like many different styles of bikes, and I say the more folks on two wheels the better!
Live and let ride.

I don't care what you ride. If it's yours (or the banks....lol) Ride the wheels off. Here's a guy that rides a Harley. What has he done to the bike? Made it his own. Isn't that what we all try to do to our bikes??? Ride on Bro.

Go for it Wicked. I'm 56 pushing 57 and sold my FLSTC and went out and bought a 48. Put a spring seat on it, apes and some other stuff and I'm loving it. It's the most fún I've had on a bike for some time.

I likes that 48.. I started my project a couple years ago just to get that look. I need to get off my *** and get it done.
Stretched the frame 4" behind the tank and done a drop seat and stretched the swingarm 5", added the air shocks.
With a little machine work grafted the inverted forks from a GSXR to the HD frame. All I need is a oil tank and electronic ignition and a little wiring to get her running.
Too busy riding the Ultra..

I'm in my early 20's ride a shovelhead, have tattoos, piercings, listen to punk/metal, skateboard, snowboard, BMX, all that jazz. I do it because I like it. I also have other non-Harley bikes, '72 Honda CB500, '84 Kawi GPz, and could care less about what you ride. I also wear "tennis shoes" sometimes when riding because that's what I happened to be wearing at the time. If your into the new "scene" thats awesome, if your not that's cool too. In the end we all ride and that's all the matters. Having been in this "scene" since for half of my very short life I will say that it has given those of us who grew up without a pot to **** in or a window to throw it out of some sense of identity and something creative to do with little or no money.

it's cool if you take an older bike and transform into something retro yet modern. but to take a brand new bike and try to make it look old to me is poserish in its own right. it's like they want an old ironhead or triumph bonny but don't want to wrench on it or deal with the hassle of owning one.
Blackout paint from the MoCo.....how unique.
Are you content to just walk into the 'dealership' and buy their idea of retro?
Hats off to the 'new breed'.........end of RUBS ??
