I been told to change the motor oil every 3000 miles. Is that the same for the Primary and Trans? Thank you in advance

It's amazing how much info you can find in your owners manual if you'll just take a minute and look it up. And if you don't have one then you should order one so you'll know what other things might be needed as you work on your bike. Engine: 5,000 miles. Primary and trans: 10,000 miles. Some do it more often some not.

My '06 calls for the same intervals as your '07. I'm sure the '05 is the same.
But personally I change the primary and trans fluid at 10k miles. Easy to do them at the same time and easy to remember when they were both done.

Sorry, it's just what I've gotten used to doing since it's only a quart. 20,000 for tranny is what is in the book.
Just read in interesting paragraph in the manual that says not to switch lubricant brands indiscriminately because some lubes interact chemically when mixed. Not that I do that but thought it was an interesting point. Pg 83 in the 07 Softail manual.

Also since the bike is new to you it might be a good idea to check the tightness of your spokes. A few guys have destroyed hubs because spokes were loose and never tightened during normal service.
