Default Anybody have a Bad (not so good) Experience with American Classic Motors

Just Wondering?

Live and Learn I guess. I purchased a set of 5.5 turn-back Riser from them, which they said would fit my 2010 Fat Bob. They are pretty nice looking to say the least. Anyway they are for 1 1/4 handlebars, the only problem with them is they did not mount properly with the top of the triple-tree.

So I removed them and re-installed my originals, until I find the ones I want and that fit properly.

I emailed them and asked what I should do? They sent back an email saying it was too bad that I tried to install them and that since I took them out of the original packaging that they could/would not accept them back. I kinda believe they got them from LA Choppers and re-wrapped them.

Jeez all it was was bubble wrap. And Yes I did try them to see if they would fit. I also cleaned them up as they were out of the package. So now I am out a buck fifty for something that I have no use for. Like I said “Live and Learn”. I was just wondering if anyone else ever had this happen trying to get parts for their bikes.

Now if anyone might be interested in them, they are part number 0602-0176 (Risers for 1 ¼ Handlebars) I’ll let them go for 50% of what I paid for them.

How long ago did you buy them?? If they said they would work, and they don't, you should be able to open a ebay claim. They have 7 days to respond...if they don't you get your money back...if they do respond...they should offer to take them back.(You pay the return shipping) I have had this same problem with them. (They took back what I bought...after emailing me saying they wouldn't)

I didn't go through Ebay, I bought them off the web site after talking with them on the phone.

I just got them by UPS yesterday and tried them right away. I emailed them last night so all this was in 24 hrs. I even went to pay-pal over it and they told me that according to the web sites rules on returns that they could not get involved.

no good i bought progerssive 412 shocks from them when i had my sporty. the ones pictured in the auction had no chrome covers on the base at all. when i got the shocks they sent me they were 412 but had huge chrome covers which i disliked and made the fitment difficult. they would not return and were rude. i opened a dispute and got my money back but a big P.I.T.A. i wouldn't recommend them.

calling foul on this, paypal will dispute any charge AND find in your favor as long as you return the item and prove it was delivered. paypal ALWAYS finds in favor of the buyer and would never tell a buyer they can't get invovled, the entire reason paypal exists is for them to get involved... simply log into paypal and open a dispute via dispute console.

I've read some negative things about them on this forum. Of course, you usually don't hear about the smooth, ordinary transactions.
I saw the mustache engine guards in my sig pic and American Classics had the cheapest price by far so I ordered them and received them quickly. No problem. Ebay says they have completed over 190,000 transactions and their feedback is 99.2% positive. I only have the one transaction to judge them by personally.

how did he escalate the claim against you???? the underlined portion makes no sense at all. so the claims process has nothing to do with the quality of goods received?

i've made ten claims in my life and never had anything close to this at all. i simply started the claim and quickly escalated it. then i was instructed to send the item back, once delivered i provided proff and got my money back.

>>paypal will dispute any charge<<

That's only on Ebay (Ebay owns Paypal) not through a company's stand alone website . . .
