Gatlinburg TN

My favorite overnighter is to go to Asheville, get a room, walk over to Hooters, then get up the next morning and hit the Blue ridge Parkway up to Boone, then home. This is a little bit away from Gatlinburg though.

Other roads around here are SO MUCH better! You can do the Dragon of course, but there are a TON OF more lesser known roads!!

I live a little northeast of it, but would prefer to ride in this area. The Dragon is fun, but I prefer Hwy 421. Lots of places to ride, lots of places to stay, and a few things to do in this area.

I am not a fan of Gattlenberg either. Like some of the others mentioned. There are a lot better places to ride/stay south of there.

We have a cabin in the area and have learned not to go up during the prime times. We always go in the off season and since then we have never had a problem with traffic. On a bike avoid June, July, begining of Aug. and October or any time there are main events going on. Just about any other time of year the traffic is not bad at all. As stated before the riding in and around that area is the best!

we were at the dragon last monday, heat index of 112 and there were still probably 200 bikes parked at the south end..... as much as I loved scraping floorboards on 129 and 143 once you get off of the beaten path there is just an amazing amount of riding to be had.....

Gatlinburg is full of newlyweds and nearly deads. Too much freaking traffic to make riding fun, but go a few miles outside either place and you will come up on some of the best riding roads anywhere.
